Prosper

Halfway between Dallas and Sherman, the Town of Prosper came into being in 1902 after the settlements of Richland and Rock Hill consolidated and were in need of a new name for the new town. A local resident suggested the name Prosper, since the crops had been especially prosperous that year. The name stuck and the town has indeed been very prosperous. Star athletes like baseball player Torii Hunter and NFL Hall of Famers Randy White and Deion Sanders helped put Prosper on the map in the late 20th and early 21st centuries when they moved their families to Prosper to live. It is conveniently located to Dallas, and is only 35 miles from the Dallas/Ft Worth International Airport, and was named fifth best suburb in the Dallas area by D Magazine in 2010.

Prosper has a population of more than 46,000, an average household income of $198,000 and the median home price is roughly $450,000. Prosper Independent School District is a top rated, public school district with approximately 25,000 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 19 to 1.
